To the Attention of the General Public

We vehemently denounce the attempted coup that was undertaken on the night of July 15, 2016 as an action against the constitutional order of our country, its democracy and the rule of law.
We extend our gratitude to the people of the country, our Government and our law enforcement officers, all of whom stood up for democracy and for our unity and integrity to prevent the attempted coup from reaching its goal. We wholeheartedly believe that we will be able to soon overcome this time of extraordinary significance by standing together, side by side.
We pray to God for grace and mercy upon the democracy martyrs who lost their lives in the chain of events that occurred, extend our deepest sympathies to the families and relatives of the deceased, and hope for the quick recovery of those who were injured.
