ENERGY GROUP - GENERATION

Altek Alarko A.Ş.

Energy sector is one of the most important sectors that has recently come to the forefront thanks to the fast growing dynamics of Turkish economy in recent years. With this perspective in mind, Altek Alarko A.Ş., a member of our group in the energy sector, shapes up its new investments and continues to grow. Düzce-Hasanlar and Tarsus-Berdan Hydro-electrical Power Plants, two pioneers in Build-Operate-Transfer model in Turkey, were transferred free of charge at the end of their concession terms, which expired in 2011, whereas Malatya-Tohma Hydro-electrical Power Plant continues to generate power within its concession term, which will expire by the end of 2018.

Our Kırklareli Combined Cycle Natural Gas Fired Power Plant:

Next to Kırklareli Combined Cycle Natural Gas Fired Power Plant with an installed power of 82 MWe which has been in commercial operation since 2005, our new Combined Cycle Natural Gas Fired power plant started up its commercial generation as a combined cycle plant in December 2010 with an installed power of 82 MWe and a generation capacity of 600 GWH per year. This new plant was built on our land just adjacent to the other one.

With this increased capacity, the total installed power of our Kırklareli Combined Natural Gas Cycle Power Plant has reached a net annual power generation capacity of 1.2 billion kWh and a total installed power of 164 MW.

The power generated at our Kırklareli Combined Cycle Natural Gas Fired Power Plant is currently sold to MEDAŞ, our distribution company, an affiliate of our Group, and to PMUM-TEİAŞ at the Day Ahead Market (DAM/MMS), which came in force in December 2011, and the ongoing Balancing Power Market under the Balancing and Settlement Regulation (BSR) and the Market Management System in line with the Energy Market Code (the Law no 4628).

New Karakuz Dam and Our HEPP Project

Planned to be built with an installed power of 76 MWe and an annual generation capacity of 305 GWh on Korkun creek in Adana province, our Karakuz Dam and HEPP was issued by EMRA with a license in 2006 under the Energy Market Code (the Law no 4628), and we raised the necessary funding and a favourable Environmental Impact Assessment certificate in 2011 and commenced the permission and easement procedures and we are currently proceeding with the construction and equipment works. We target to start up our Hydro-electrical Power Plant at the end of 2013, and we plan to sell the generated power to MEDAŞ, our distribution company, an affiliate of our Group, and to PMUM-TEİAŞ at the Day Ahead Market (PDM/MMS), and the ongoing Balancing Power Market under the Balancing and Settlement Regulation (BSR) and the Market Management System.

Our imported hard coal fired thermal power plant with an installed power of 1320 MWe, which we plan to build on our own land in Çanakkkale Karabiga, will be further developed based on the financing and environmental conditions in 2012.
